Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant

Position Description:
Under the guidance of a Speech and Language Pathologist or Program Specialist, the Speech and Language Pathology Assistant at ICEF Public Schools will play a vital role in providing specialized services and support to students with speech and language disorders. This position involves collaborating with teachers, conducting screenings, implementing therapy plans, and documenting student progress.

FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Cycle: 11 months
Salary: Commensurate with Experience ($28-45/hour)

Essential Functions:
- Conduct speech-language screenings using various assessment tools and methods tailored to ICEF Public Schools' standards.
- Implement documented therapy plans under the supervision of the Speech and Language Pathologist.
- Support the SLP in coordinating with families to schedule Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
- Document student progress accurately within the IEP system.
- Prepare and organize therapy materials for small group or classroom settings.
- Modify instructional materials as necessary to meet individual student needs and assist teachers in their implementation.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to develop instructional materials and strategies.
- Utilize progress monitoring tools to track student performance and report progress on IEP goals.
- Assist in IEP progress monitoring under the supervision of the SLP.
- Foster a safe and positive environment conducive to student learning and growth.
- Collaborate effectively with members of the IEP Team, Special Education team, and school site teams.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of ICEF Public Schools' mission, vision, and values, including commitments to antiracism.
- Comfortably integrate technology into remote learning environments as needed.
- Perform any other related duties as required and assigned by ICEF Public Schools.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrate a commitment to ICEF Public Schools' mission, vision, and value statements, including antiracism initiatives.
- Possess an Associate’s Degree and have completed a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program.
- Registered as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant with the State of California.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting.
- Hold a valid California Driver’s License.

Required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet the changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: effectively leading meetings, comfortably giving academic presentations, exhibiting appropriate manners including poise, tact, good judgment, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with ICEF personnel, community representatives, parents, and students. An ideal candidate for this position is someone who is highly organized and self-motivated. Candidate must have the ability to schedule a significant number of activities, trainings, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when making decisions. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined as well as undefined and self-created processes; and operate job-required equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diverse set of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Frequent local travel and occasional out-of-town may be required for trainings, seminars, or workshops. This position will work in a shared office space and will be required to visit the school sites on a frequent basis. When out on school sites, the following physical demands may be requested: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
EDUCATION
Targeted job related education that meets organization’s prerequisite requirements. Job related experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
