Pay Cycle: 12 months
Salary Range: Starting at $83,000 commensurate with experience

Job Description

Position Summary

The principle tasks of the Dean of Culture are to implement  the strategic vision, and provide oversight of our school’s cultural ecosystem. This role works closely with the School Leadership and has the support of Culture Liaisons to ensure a safe, structured and student-centered environment where scholars thrive.

This is an on-site position based at a school site; remote work is not available for this role.


Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership & School Culture 

  • Lead the design and implementation of schoolwide culture systems, routines, and expectations that the Culture Liaison reinforces daily.
  • Oversee the promotion of core school values—respect, empathy, community, integrity, perseverance, and excellence—ensuring they are woven into the fabric of the campus.
  • Analyze school and student data to develop proactive interventions and schoolwide improvements.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of major schoolwide incentives, assemblies, and culture-building activities.

Behavioral Health & Restorative Justice

  • Oversee the school’s approach to discipline, ensuring that redirection, reflection, and restorative conversations are applied consistently and equitably across the campus.
  • Supervise the documentation of major behavior incidents and interventions, ensuring high-quality follow-through on re-entry plans and restorative practices.
  • Act as the primary point of escalation for significant behavior concerns or safety issues.
  • Lead high-level communication with families regarding behavioral trends and serious disciplinary concerns.

Supervision & Professional Development

  • Directly supervise the Culture Liaison(s) and other culture-related staff, providing coaching on student supervision and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Train staff on self-regulation, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving techniques to be modeled for scholars.
  • Facilitate culture and student support meetings to ensure alignment between teachers, administrators, counselors, and the culture team.
  • Set the standards for a calm, safe, and respectful campus environment during high-traffic periods like nutrition, lunch, and transitions.
  • Ensure all student-facing systems regarding school expectations, including but not limited to attendance, uniform, and participation are executed with equity and consistency.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in education, in Education, Social Work, School Administration, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of progressive professional experience in a public charter school, charter management organization or public school district
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and verbal communication
  • Strong leadership, team management, and project execution skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally 
  • Proficient use of Google-based applications
  • Tuberculosis (TB) clearance
  • Background check clearance
  • Commitment to educational equity and ICEF’s mission

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior professional experience as a Dean or equivalent in a public charter school, charter management organization or public school district
  • Proficiency in using school-based information systems and applications
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
